Speaking of kalimba,everyone would remember April Yan. And kalimba will come to mind when speaking of April Yan. As one pioneer of promoting development of kalimba in China, April Yan fell in love with the minority musical instrument in first sight in 2013 while nearly nobody knew and found this African musical instrument in China .

“不過第一(yī)次接觸與感受該是在2015年吧(ba)，我的一(yī)個(gè)朋(péng)友從南(nán)非帶來(lái)了(le)一(yī)種非洲傳統的民(mín)族樂(yuè)器(qì)“卡林巴”。一(yī)個(gè)外型小小的樂(yuè)器(qì)，而且也(yě)隻需要用兩根大拇指就(jiù)能(néng)彈出各種音(yīn)符，可以簡單攜帶，音(yīn)色還挺獨具一(yī)格的。這(zhè)是我第一(yī)次體(tǐ)驗拇指琴的具體(tǐ)感受。”羊阿寶老師說(shuō)。“不過，當時(shí)國内幾乎沒有人(rén)知道這(zhè)種樂(yuè)器(qì)，而且當時(shí)的拇指琴無論外觀和音(yīn)色都很粗糙，并沒有現(xiàn)在這(zhè)麽多的樣式和悅耳的音(yīn)質。”羊阿寶老師與拇指琴的結緣雖起于偶然，但(dàn)卻熱愛的一(yī)往情深。 

“But the first touch and experience should be in 2015 when my friend brought back a traditional musical instrument from south Africa. That is kalimba. Small appearance, can play only with two thumbs, easy to carry around, and tones are unique. That’s what i feel after playing kalimba for the first time.”Said April,”But almost no one knew it in China, and it’s rough no matter in appearance or in tone by that time.The styles were not as many as by now,and tones were not pleasant too.” Although the connection of April and kalimba was all made by chance ,it has became her beloved.

也(yě)正是羊阿寶老師對拇指琴的這(zhè)種熱愛，讓她想要把這(zhè)種好(hǎo)(hǎo)玩(wán)的樂(yuè)器(qì)分(fēn)享給大家，希望拇指琴也(yě)能(néng)夠像尤克裏裏一(yī)樣被大衆熟知、喜愛。于是，2016年起，羊阿寶開始學習制作(zuò)和上(shàng)傳一(yī)些(xiē)自己演奏拇指琴的視(shì)頻到網上(shàng)，并且，她還親自編寫了(le)教材和拇指琴專用樂(yuè)譜，供初學者學習。她也(yě)因此收獲了(le)數十萬粉絲，視(shì)頻總播放(fàng)量超過一(yī)億次。目前已改編了(le)400多首拇指琴譜，平均每天都要改編一(yī)首新(xīn)樂(yuè)譜，其中，《告白氣球》《紙短情長》《晴天》等這(zhè)些(xiē)流行音(yīn)樂(yuè)均在其中。 

For the love of kalimba, April wanted to share the good instrument to everyone, and hoped it will be well known and be loved as ukulele. So,April started to learn video shooting of playing kalimba and post them online Since 2016.Also she has compiled textbooks and dedicated music scores for kalimba beginners. She got ten thousands of fans then, and videos viewed by 10000000000+ times. She has adapted 400+music scores so far ,including pop music <Confession Balloon><Tender Lines><Fine Days>,etc. Adapting a new music score has became her daily work.
